    Week 9 Update

    Kindergarten Literacy Learning

Kindergarten students have been enjoying the picture book Floof. They used their background knowledge to make predictions about the text and what Floof might do next. In small groups, students created freeze frames to show Floof’s actions in the story. They wrote simple sentences using a subject–verb–object structure to describe the character’s actions. To finish the unit, students made their own Floof puppets. They used their puppets to perform events from the text, using imaginative language to bring Floof’s adventures to life.

    Allegra Spender's Leadership Forum

Our school captains Manning and Sailor attended a leadership forum lead by Allegra Spender at Woollahra Library last week.

They worked collaboratively with other student leaders from a range of schools in the Eastern Suburbs to come up with ideas for future initiatives. They also got the chance to hear Allegra speak about leadership.

    Rose Bay Secondary College Talk

Last week, students from Years 4 to 6 had the exciting opportunity to hear from the Year 7 Coordinator and two current students from Rose Bay Secondary College. They spoke about the wide range of programs and opportunities available at the school, including academic, creative, sporting, and wellbeing initiatives. Our students enjoyed learning about what high school life is like and why Rose Bay Secondary College is a great option for their future. It was a fantastic chance to ask questions and get a feel for the exciting journey ahead!

    P&C

    City2Surf Fundraiser - Sunday 10 August

Help Serve Up Bondi Vibes (and Bacon Rolls) This City2Surf!

Since 2013, the BBPS P&C has proudly run secure, paid parking within the school grounds during the annual City2Surf event. This tradition has become a highlight of our fundraising calendar - not only helping to raise valuable funds for our school, but also offering a practical service to running clubs, groups of friends, and many of the volunteers who help make City2Surf such a memorable day.

Last year, we expanded our offering to include a breakfast BBQ, with fantastic results. It turns out both a car park and a bacon and egg roll are in high demand on a City2Surf morning!

We’ve got the sizzle and the spaces - now we just need the crew!

We’re calling for volunteers to join the team; whether your talent lies in parking logistics or flipping 60 sausages to perfection, there’s a high viz vest for you. It’s a really fun morning with a brilliant atmosphere. You’ll be part of the City2Surf vibe, cheering on runners as they pass by, soaking up the energy, and showing everyone just how strong our Bondi community spirit is.

👉 Please use this quick sign-up sheet to let us know when and how you’re keen to pitch in.

🚗 Know any runners, sports teams, or corporate groups looking for parking on City2Surf day? Share our booking site with them!

If you’ve ever wondered why P&C fundraising matters, and what the funds are used for, you can always visit the fundraising page on our P&C website.

    Have a great week.

    Ethics

    Ethics in Term 2

This term your children have been discussing so many interesting topics in their Ethics classes.

    • Kindergarten: Making things up and showing off
    • Stage 1 – Years 1 & 2: Different kinds of animals and different kinds of needs
    • Stage 2 – Years 3 & 4: Persuading
    • Stage 3 – Years 5 & 6: Being vain

You can read more about these topics and what the kids discuss here, and subscribe to the Primary Ethics parent newsletter.

Ever thought about becoming an Ethics teacher?
Ethics lessons are an opportunity for students to engage in meaningful discussions of real-life issues. These discussions are not just academic – they’re about equipping young minds with skills in critical thinking, ethical reasoning and respectful discussion that will help them navigate the complexities of the world they’re growing up into. If you can spend half an hour at the school on Thursdays at 9:00am and are interested in volunteering as an ethics teacher, please consider applying at https://primaryethics.com.au/volunteer/

Feel free to reach out to the BBPS Ethics Coordinator Evelyn at evelynlevisohn@gmail.com if you have any questions at all about the ethics program or being an ethics volunteer.
