Festival of Instrumental Music at the Opera House
Yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to attend the final rehearsal for the Festival of Instrumental Music Banksia Concert held at the Sydney Opera House, and watch nine of our students participate in this remarkable experience. This spectacular event showcased massed recorder and string ensembles from NSW public primary schools, some of whom came from as far away as Gilgandra and Wagga.
The Festival of Instrumental Music is a wonderful opportunity for our students to develop their musical skills and experience the thrill of performing on one of Australia’s most prestigious stages. It was a long day with a full rehearsal and evening performance. Thank you to Mr West for organising, attending and making sure our students were fully prepared.
Thank you also to Hannah’s dad for his support on the day, and to the parents who helped with transport and attended the concert. If you look closely in the top right hand corner, you'll be able to see the BBPS ensemble.

Dogs on School Grounds
Just a reminder that the NSW Consolidated Act pertaining to dogs states dogs are prohibited in schools whether leashed or unleashed. The only exceptions are assistance dogs that are specifically trained to assist those who are sight or hearing impaired.
Please do not bring your dog on to school grounds and when tying it up outside, make sure it is well away from the school entry gates.
Week 6 Update
Year 2 - Exploring Visual Features
Year 2 students have been exploring how visual features help us understand stories better. In English, they read two powerful books about young refugees, Out by Angela May George and My Two Blankets by Irena Kobald, learning about the feelings of moving from a war-torn country.
They practised identifying similarities and differences between the two texts, deepening their understanding of the stories and the experiences shared. In Art, the children are discovering the importance of lines and their variations. They teamed up to create a collaborative artwork, experimenting with different lines and colors to express their ideas. Fantastic work Year 2!

Book Week Buddy Fun
As part of our Book Week celebrations, our Year 6 students teamed up with their Kindergarten buddies for a special session of shared reading and costume fun. The older students read picture books with their buddies, sparking wonderful conversations about favourite stories and characters. They also enjoyed chatting about each other’s creative costumes, making it a joyful celebration of books, imagination and connection across the school.

Father’s Day Morning – Friday 5 September
We can’t wait for our much-loved Father’s Day Morning, a special celebration for our whole school community and especially the dads and father figures. The long-range forecast is looking rain-free, so it’s shaping up to be the perfect morning to enjoy the return of bowlo rollo and the always-popular basketball hoops.
Raffle tickets are now available on Qkr! with all proceeds supporting our school. We’d love a few extra hands on the day; shifts are short and easy, so you’ll still have plenty of time to grab breakfast, shoot some hoops, scoop up a raffle prize and enjoy the fun before heading off to work. The kids absolutely love seeing their parents get involved. Sign up using link Fathers Day Volunteers
