Peaceful Kids - Mindfulness & Positive Psychology Program Term 4
Next Term we will be running the Peaceful Kids program for nominated children in Kindergarten and Year 1. Peaceful Kids is a five week small group program run by the school counsellor to help children build their emotional resilience so they are better equipped to deal with the day to day stresses that life brings them. Teachers or parents may nominate a student/child to participate in the program. If you think your child would benefit, please email the school counsellor on the school email.
External Validation
Every four years, our school participates in an external validation process to reflect on our practices and progress. This helps us to measure our progress and guides the development of our next school plan.
During this process, we assess ourselves against the School Excellence Framework across three areas: Learning, Teaching, and Leading. We provide evidence to support our assessments, which is then reviewed by an external panel.
Over Term 2 we reflected on our progress and compiled the evidence bank to support our assessments of progress. The panel met with us yesterday and confirmed their agreement with all our determinations, finding impressive the everyday practices of the school, our genuine passion for public education and the passion we have for our school. We're delighted with the outcome and are now focused on our next steps. Such positive feedback on what we do at our wonderful school highlights our ongoing commitment to delivering quality education and continuous improvement.
Bullying No Way Week
Last Week was the national week of action for Bullying No Way. The theme for 2025 is Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.
It takes courage to spark change. Bullying, or mean on purpose behaviour, is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address these behaviours, within and beyond the school gate. Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied. While parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way.
While we consistently have a focus on being kind and respectful as part of our school expectations, it's good to pause and think about how else we can send the message. In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.
In 2D, students learned about belonging and embracing differences. They each coloured a unique fish to add to their school of fish, showing how they swim together by appreciating their similarities and differences.

Year 1 has recently warmly welcomed two new students into their class, building connections and developing a sense of belonging to our school community. When students feel they belong, it helps build positive relationships and supports a safe and respectful environment. By encouraging students to recognise and strengthen the connections they have, we continue to build a school community where all students feel supported and can succeed.

Our Stage 3 students engaged in activities focused on recognising bullying and understanding its impact on people’s lives. As part of their learning, students researched strategies to support peers who may be experiencing bullying and created age-appropriate factsheets to share practical advice with others their age.

School Sports Program
This term, we are inviting a voluntary contribution of $40 to support the delivery of Coach Joe’s in-school sports program. Coach Joe is with us five days a week, providing specialist sport sessions for all classes and helping coordinate a range of co-curricular activities, including the K–2 and Years 3–6 athletics carnivals and the NAIDOC Games rotations. As a representative of the Got Game sports organisation, Coach Joe is also able to supply specialist sports equipment that the school is unable to purchase or store. Your support through this contribution is greatly appreciated and helps us maintain this valuable program for all students.

Head Lice
Head lice is a common occurrence within the school community and we ask that you please regularly check your child's hair using the methods recommended in the information from NSW Health. Mechanical removal is the preferred way to detect and treat head lice and further information can be found in the link below. Students with long hair should have it tied back to minimise the risk of exposure to head lice.

Sport
SCPSSA Athletics Carnival
A large contingent of our 3-6 students headed off early this morning to compete in the Sydney Coastal Zone Atheltics Carnival. Despite the weather, or maybe because of it, we had a record number of students who performed extremely well and will be going to the regional carnival. Congratulations to Emmeline, Etta, Caitlin, Franca and George. Special mention to Romy who broke the zone record for the 1500m and will also be competing at regional level, and a big thank you to staff, parents and students who braved the wet and cold to attend.

Father’s Day Morning – Friday 5 September
Join us for our much-loved annual Father’s Day Morning, a special celebration for our whole school community and especially the dads and father figures. This year we’re excited to bring back bowlo rollo and the always-popular basketball hoops. Raffle tickets will also be on sale, with all proceeds supporting our school. Tickets available on Qkr! at the end of the week.
We really need a few extra hands on the morning; check out the volunteer sign up sheet here and choose a slot that suits you. Shifts are kept short so you’ll still have time to grab breakfast, shoot some hoops, and enjoy the morning before heading off to work. The kids absolutely love seeing their parents get involved.

Dance News
Good Luck!
We extend our best wishes to the Show Troupes as they prepare for their final competition of the season at the prestigious Sydney Opera House this weekend. It has been a privilege to watch their artistry evolve, and we look forward to seeing their hard work culminate in this iconic performance.
Enrolments
REDed Semester 2 Dance enrolments give students the chance to experience our Show Troupe classes, where they will work alongside current troupe members to learn a dynamic new routine. These classes are a fantastic way to build performance skills, teamwork, and confidence, while preparing interested students for our 2026 Show Troupe auditions.
