Leadership Afternoon at Rose Bay Secondary College
Today, I had the pleasure of accompanying our school captains, Sailor and Manning, to a leadership afternoon at Rose Bay Secondary College, organised by the RBSC student leadership team including two of our former BBPS students. This event provided a great opportunity for our students to engage with peers from local primary schools and gain valuable insights into effective leadership.
Throughout the afternoon, Sailor and Manning participated in a series of interactive sessions that focused on essential leadership qualities, planning initiatives, and team-building strategies. They explored what makes a good leader and acquired practical skills that will not only benefit them in their roles as school captains but also serve them well in their future endeavours.
Our captains were able to connect with their counterparts at Rose Bay Secondary College, fostering a sense of community among local schools. They returned with fresh ideas and enthusiasm to implement in their leadership roles at BBPS. We look forward to seeing how their experiences will enhance our school community.

Week 4 Update
K-2 Athletics Carnival
Last Friday morning, our K-2 students finally got to enjoy the athletics carnival after it was postponed due to bad weather last term. It was a beautiful day, perfect for a fun-filled event.
Students were excited as they raced down the track, showing off their speed and cheering each other on. After a break, they rotated through a range of individual and team based activities like the egg and spoon race, tug-o-war, parachute games, and relays.
A big thank you to the staff for organising the morning and to all the parents who came to support and cheer for their children. Your presence made the day even more special and contributed to a highly successful athletics carnival for our younger students.

Planetarium Incursion
To celebrate National Science Week, all classes participated in a planetarium incursion. Each 90 minute session included a live guided tour of the solar system, an interactive quiz, and a Star Dreaming Show. The show explored the Indigenous perspective of the night sky and their deep and long-standing connection with the stars. Often considered the world's first astronomers, the show detailed how Aboriginal people used the stars for navigation and timekeeping, as well as for cultural and spiritual guidance.

Sport

NSW PSSA Rugby Union
Congratulations to Ben in representing the Sydney East Boys Rugby Team at the NSW PSSA State Rugby Championships in Newcastle last week. The team played with enthusiasm and determination and were excellent ambassadors for Sydney East, their zones and their schools. Their skills and teamwork progressed over the course of the championships finishing 7th out of 13 regions.
The team coach noted that Ben was one of the team's best players and a leader on and off the field who was a pleasure to coach not only at the carnival but also at the training sessions in the lead up to the carnival. Well done Ben!

Dance News
On Sunday 2 August the BBPS Show Troupes performed in the Ultimate Dance Competition held at Pacific Hills Christian School, Dural. Congratulations to Year 1-2 Show Troupe who received a highly commended.
A huge thank you to all the families who made the trip to Dural, especially on such a rainy day with major travel disruptions. What a great effort from everyone involved!

Join us at The Beachy (Beach Road Hotel) on Thursday 28 August from 7pm for an epic night of live music, laughs, and community spirit.
Five parent bands from five local public primary schools will go head-to-head, including our very own BBPS parent band, The Distractions. Come cheer them on and help us raise funds for music and performing arts at our school. The Hive
Survey and Sign Out
A reminder to please take two minutes to complete the 2025 Hive Parent Survey - nearly 30 responses have been received so far, which is wonderful. We're aiming for at least 30 more to ensure meaningful feedback that will help us improve.
Additionally, please remember that once children are signed out of the Hive, families should exit the school grounds promptly. Remaining on-site can create supervision challenges for staff and students. You're welcome to connect with other parents, but we ask that all conversations take place outside the school gates. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Co-curricular Activities
The school has a number of different programs students can access outside of school hours. Some are free and some attract a cost. Click the link below to find out what's available and who to contact for more information.
