Pedestrian Upgrade
Good news from the council this week about the footpath upgrade that's in progress around the school.
The project is still on track and the footpath will be closed for less time than originally anticipated. It will now be closed on Friday for demolition. There will be traffic controllers on site to direct everyone at the crossing and over the new crossing/footpath created at Gould St North. The latest traffic management plan is below - please refer to the pedestrian footpath for your reference.
Concrete will be poured on Saturday and the footpath will be re-opened Monday for regular school operations. This should have the least amount of disruption to the school during the works.

Week 8 Update
Premier's Debating Challenge Round 3
On Monday our Boomerangs and Breakers travelled to Bronte Public School to compete in Round 3 of the Premier’s Debating Challenge. Both teams spoke with confidence, clarity and strong teamwork.
The Boomerangs took the affirmative side on the topic "Year 5 and 6 students should have to spend one week of school holidays working for a charity," highlighting the value of empathy, responsibility and real-world experience. The Breakers successfully argued the negative case for the topic "Schools should give every Year 6 student a turn in student leadership," focusing on the importance of responsibility, consistency and commitment in leadership roles.
We’re proud to share that both teams won their debates! Our next round will take place next term, with the Breakers and Boomerangs going head-to-head.

Paralympian Taylor Gosens Talk
On Tuesday, students in Years 3 to 6 had the opportunity to meet Paralympian Taylor Gosens, who delivered an inspiring talk on inclusion and perseverance. Taylor, who competes in para judo and proudly placed 7th at the Paris Olympics, shared her journey as an elite athlete and the challenges she has overcome. Her message encouraged students to embrace differences and find ways to include everyone. She also talked about the importance of being resilient and giving it more than one go. It was an engaging and memorable talk and we look forward to watching for Taylor in the next Paralympics.

Water Safety Presentation
Kindergarten to Year 3 students took part in a beach and water safety session led by Bondi Rescue lifeguards Mitch and Lucas, delivered on behalf of Waverley Council. This presentation was a great way to build foundational knowledge and remind students of the importance of staying safe around water ahead of the warmer months. The students were very engaged and enthusiastically asked and answered questions. Some shared their own experiences with jellyfish and bluebottles and one student even asked, "What would you do if you were caught in a rip and a shark came?!" This level of engagement highlights their curiosity and eagerness to learn about safety in and around the water.

Stage 3 Science
This week in Science, Stage 3 students created eye-catching infographics to explore the journey of a food product, from its ingredients to the production process. They investigated what it's made from, how it’s made and where each ingredient comes from. The students did a fantastic job and gained a deeper understanding of the origins of everyday foods. Well done, Stage 3!
