School Newsletter Week 1 Term 2
From the Relieving Principal
Welcome back to BBPS and another busy and productive term. We hope you've had a relaxing and happy break and made full use of the public holidays during the last two weeks. We have a number of events happening this term so keep an eye on the calendar and the newsletter. School sport for 3-6 students will start next Friday on the same day as the Mother's Day shootout and stall, the Athletics carnival is in Week 10 and Semester 1 reports will be emailed in Week 10. In between, we'll have the Peaceful Kids sessions starting in Stage 3 and chickens hatching in Kindergarten.
Over the past two days, school staff engaged in preparation for the upcoming term, focusing on further developing their professional skills through targeted learning sessions on high performance and gifted education. This aims to equip our teachers with effective strategies and insights to support the diverse needs of all students, particularly those demonstrating exceptional abilities.
Easter Hat Parade
Last term's K-2 Easter hat parade was a delightful occasion featuring an impressive array of imaginative hats. We had a beautiful sunny day, which made a welcome change after the previous few years of rainy weather. Our enthusiastic audience had the chance to appreciate the creativity of the hats on show, and we finished up with a lively chicken dance performance. Year 6 ran a successful cake stall and a good time was had by all!

Mobile Device Guidelines
This is a reminder that mobile phones and smart watches should not be used during school hours. If your child brings a device to school, it must be kept turned off in their school bag. If a device is used on school premises, your child will be required to take it to the school office for collection at the end of the day.
In case of an emergency, please contact the school administration office at 9130 2116, where staff can assist in reaching your child promptly. If you receive a missed call or text from your child, we kindly ask that you call the school office instead of communicating directly during school hours.
Week 1 Update
ANZAC Day
We commemorate ANZAC Day on 25 April. This date is the anniversary of the day Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in 1915. This year marks 110 years since the Gallipoli campaign.
On Friday 25 April our school captains Sailor and Manning and our vice captain Iona attended the North Bondi RSL Dawn Service. As part of the service they laid a wreath, on behalf of our school, at the memorial to remember those who have lost their lives servicing Australia in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Choir
Congratulations to Josh, Blayk, Isla, Clara, Tiana, Hannah, Robbie, Lennox, India, Evie, Raven, Juliet A., Juliet J-P, Milla, and Jack for a fantastic performance at the North Bondi RSL ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
Our choir was exemplary as they waited silently for the 45 minutes of the remembrance service, before they got on stage and sang the New Zealand and Australian national anthems with poise and gusto. I received so many appreciative comments from the audience which reached well over 5000 people.
Thank you to all the families that got our singers there for the 5.45 am call - during the school holidays! A sterling effort by all.
Year 2 Recorder - Last chance to join this year
Recorder Ensemble has been a popular choice for Year 2 students this year. We still have a few places available, any students interested in joining please register here no later than Wednesday 7 May, or contact Mr West at school for further information about the program.
