    Easter Hat Parade

A reminder that the Easter Hat Parade for K-2 is on Friday in the quad (or the hall if raining) starting at 9:15am. Here is the running order. Our Easter Hat Parades tend to be very quick, so this is just a guide as to when your child will be parading. Everyone is welcome to come along, buy a cake from the cake stall and watch the fabulous Easter hat creations - we have some very talented parents!

    Citizenship Awards

Each term, teachers select one student in their class to receive the Citizenship Award. These students receive a certificate and a dolphin pin which should be worn on their uniform with pride. Students selected demonstrate and uphold the school values of being respectful, safe, kind active learners.  Congratulations to the recipients for this term.

    Filming and Photographing Students

With the cross country today and the Easter Hat Parade on Friday, this is a timely reminder to all parents and carers to take care when taking photos or recording video of students, teachers and other parents and carers at school events. While these photos and films can provide important memories at home with the family, they should never be uploaded or shared on social media without the express permission of all those who have been filmed. We must respect the privacy of all of our students, teachers and other parents and carers.

Have a Safe and Happy Break

As we approach the end of the first term for 2025, we want to take a moment to wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday break. Whether you're relaxing at home or going away, here are a few reminders for keeping everyone safe:

Hold Hands at Crossings: If your child is under 8 years old, always hold their hand when crossing the road. Use pedestrian crossings wherever possible and teach them to look both ways before stepping onto the road.

Use Proper Restraints: If you're travelling by car, ensure that your children are safely secured in appropriate car seats or booster seats based on their age and size.

Stay Alert in Crowded Areas: Busy places can be overwhelming. Keep a close eye on your child and establish a meeting point in case you get separated.

Educate About Stranger Safety: Talk to your child about the importance of not talking to strangers and what to do if they feel unsafe.

Play safely: Make some family rules about playing safely away from roads, car parks, footpaths and driveways. Talk about these rules with your children and then stick to them every time they play outside, use bikes, trikes or scooters.

School for students will resume on Wednesday 30 April. We look forward to seeing everyone back, feeling refreshed and ready for Term 2.

    Week 11 Update

BBPS Choir to perform at North Bondi RSL for ANZAC DAY

We are delighted that our choir has been invited for the 4th year in a row to perform at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at North Bondi RSL. It is a very significant and moving ceremony that starts at 6.00am with a crowd of up to 3000 people gathered around the club on the beach and park area.

Our choir will be leading the audience in both the New Zealand and Australian National Anthems. This is a very special way to commemorate the symbolism of ANZAC Day. All are welcome to attend.

    Year 2 Artwork

This term, Year 2 created beautiful artworks using a variety of techniques. These have been inspired by some of the books we have read and analysed during our English lessons. The books are Koala Ark, Sophie Scott Goes South, Where the Wild Things Are and Mallee Sky. Can you guess which book inspired these magnificent creations?

    Stage 2 History

In history, Stage 2 students have been learning about what life was like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people before the arrival of Europeans and what motivated Europeans to take on great journeys around the world. For a homework task, students had to write a diary entry that described what people might have experienced during first contact between the Europeans and the Aboriginal people. Zoe, Livia and Selena had very creative ways of presenting their work and presented various perspectives.

    School Photo Day

A reminder that school photos are taking place on Tuesday 6 May. To order, go to the website and enter the code on the poster below.  www.theschoolphotograher.com.au

    Cross Country  Recap

The Year 3 to 6 Cross Country was held today at the beach. We were lucky with the weather, seeing clear skies, no rain and a reasonably comfortable temperature.

Our students showed impressive effort as they ran the course and then cheered each other on throughout the event. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and spirit.

A big thank you to our teachers for their hard work in organising the race and to the parents who turned up to cheer their children on. Your support makes a big difference.

Congratulations to all our runners for their dedication and determination - it's a long way to run. We look forward to sharing the results and celebrating everyone's achievements.

    Year 4 Surfing

This term, Year 4 students have enjoyed hitting the waves with weekly surfing lessons down at Bondi Beach. Guided by instructors from Let's Go Surfing, students learnt to ride waves safely while building their confidence, coordination, and water awareness. It’s been fantastic to see their enjoyment and development grow each week – one of the unique experiences they won’t forget!

    Parents Battle of the Bands!

Musical parents, it's time to dust off your instruments and get ready to rock!

Parents Battle of the Bands is back, and local schools like Bondi Public, Coogee, Clovelly, and Bronte are already in the mix - so how about BBPS joining the fun? It’s a great chance to share your love of music, enjoy a night of great tunes and good vibes, and support a worthy cause. Money raised from the event is distributed to local school music programs, helping keep the music alive for the next generation. The local heat takes place on Thursday 28 August  at the Beach Road Hotel. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just in it for the fun, we’d love to see BBPS parents up on that stage.  Check out parentsbattleofthebands.com to learn more and sign up!

    Canteen

If you have placed an order for your child and they are not able to attend school that day, please cancel the order on Qkr! before 8.45am and you will receive a credit on the app. Please note the canteen cannot provide credits. If you miss the cut off time, please call the school office and ask to be put through to the canteen, we will then be able to defer your order to another day.

A friendly reminder to please make sure all IOUs have been paid by the end of term, either on Qkr! or in person at the canteen window.

    Have a fabulous Easter break.
