    From the Relieving Principal

    Harmony Day

Last Friday on Harmony Day, our students K-6 celebrated inclusivity and diversity through a collaborative art project of linked paper dolls. Classes came together to design and decorate their dolls, each representing the unique identities and cultures of the students within.

As the paper dolls were linked, they symbolised the unity and connection among classmates, highlighting how diverse backgrounds contribute to a vibrant community.

The final display of linked paper dolls can be seen near the Year 1 classrooms, serving as a visual representation of harmony, solidarity and the strength found in collaboration.

    Travel

Families are strongly encouraged to travel during school holidays. If travel during school term is necessary, an Application for Extended Leave, together with your itinerary, will need to be submitted and approved before departure. Absences relating to travel will be marked as leave on the roll and therefore contribute to your child’s total absences for the year. In some circumstances students may be eligible to enrol in distance education for travel periods over 50 school days. Please contact the school if this is an option for you.

    Week 9 Update

    Kindergarten Maths – Exploring Patterns

In maths, Kindergarten students have been learning all about patterns! They’ve been exploring repeating, growing, and shrinking patterns using colours, shapes, sizes, and more. Students discovered that patterns have a part that repeats, called the pattern core — like an AB pattern using two different elements. By identifying the core, students learned how to continue, extend, or shrink patterns in creative ways. Keep an eye out for patterns at home — they're everywhere!

    Ocean Lovers Festival

Last Friday students from Year 3, 5 and 6 attended the Ocean Lovers Festival. Students participated in a range of hands on activities and talks from leading scientists. Students learned about some of the latest innovations and state of the art technology helping to protect the world's oceans.

With the help of the Australian National Maritime Museum, students had the opportunity to drive an underwater drone and explore what lies beneath the waves of Bondi Beach.

    Ethics at BBPS

You might be aware that we have a thriving Primary Ethics program at BBPS, with 10 volunteers running 11 classes from K-6. For those of you wondering 'What does my child discuss in an ethics class each week?' there is a handy once-per-term newsletter published by Primary Ethics which you can subscribe to here.

    Stage 1 – Years 1 & 2: When is it fair?

    Stage 2 – Years 3 & 4: Being greedy
