From the Relieving Principal
Welcome BBQ
We're looking forward to the annual P&C welcome barbecue this Friday evening. It's always a lot of fun and a great way to welcome new families into the BBPS community as well as reconnect with our existing families. Gates open at 5.00pm.
Harmony Day
At Bondi Beach Public School we are celebrating Harmony Day on Friday 21 March. We ask all children to wear an orange accessory and bring in a gold coin. This event is being organised by the school SRC and the money collected will be donated to Stewart House.
The theme for Harmony Day 2025 is Harmony - we all have a role to play! Harmony Day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
The students on the SRC have been busy making posters for around the school.

Attendance and Absences
Parents of children from Kindergarten to Year 12 must ensure their children attend school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
- being sick or having an infectious disease
- having an unavoidable medical appointment
- being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
- exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the school will record the absence as unexplained on the student's record.
Have your details or circumstances changed?
If you have a new address, email, phone number or emergency contact please let the school office know so you continue to receive school communications and we can contact you if required. Also please inform us if there are any changes or updates to your family circumstances or your child's health.
Week 7 Update
Measuring Length in Year 3 and 4
In maths, Year 3 and 4 students are learning about measurement. Students have learned how to accurately estimate lengths in centimetres and metres then use a benchmark measurement such as a step or their foot to improve the accuracy of their estimate. Throughout the remainder of the week, students will identify when a metre is too long to measure an object, use a ruler to measure a line in centimetres and convert between units of measurement.

Sport
Regional Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to Ben, Matteo, Xavier and Manning for competing in the Regional Swimming Carnival at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on Monday evening. Although the boys didn’t place this time, we're still extremely proud of their effort in the senior boys relay event.
