    From the Relieving Principal

Welcome to a new school year! It’s great to see our students excited to return and reconnect with their classmates, and our new kindy cohort ready to start big school.

As always, teachers will work together and with their students, to provide relevant and engaging lessons, supporting all students to achieve their academic, emotional, and social potential. Class organisation and routines will be addressed at our upcoming parent information sessions. Details for these evenings are provided above.

    Anaphylaxis and Allergies Reminder

At Bondi Beach Public School, we have a number of students who have severe allergies and anaphylaxis. Part of our risk management strategy is that students do not share their food with others at any time.

In addition, our canteen has made the decision not to stock products that contain nuts or sesame seeds. We ask parents to please consider carefully before sending these products to school, especially in the younger years.

By following these guidelines, we aim to provide a safe and happy environment for all our children and families. Your support is greatly appreciated.

    Personal Belongings and Uniforms

A reminder for parents and carers to please ensure that all belongings and uniforms are clearly labelled with your child's name and new class. This is the most effective way to ensure items are returned quickly to their owner.

    Week 3 Update

    Kindergarten’s First Week!

What an exciting start to the year for our Kindergarten students. This week, they settled into their new classrooms, made new friends, and explored fun learning activities. From listening to stories and practising early literacy and numeracy skills to enjoying outdoor play, our youngest learners have embraced their first week with enthusiasm and curiosity. We are so proud of how they are adjusting to school life and look forward to all the wonderful learning ahead.

    Sport

    Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival

A reminder that the Year 3 -6 swimming carnival is tomorrow at Des Renford Leisure Centre, Maroubra. Students must arrive at the school by 8am for an 8:15am bus departure.  For more information please see the document here.

    Year 3-6 PSSA Sport Trials

PSSA winter sports trials will be held on Tuesday 25 February. Students can choose one or two sports to try out. They will make their selections in class on a Google form. Information on the trials and how they will be conducted is attached here. The sports are:

    Rugby League
    Netball
    Girls Soccer
    Mixed Soccer

Please note that PSSA teams have only limited places and will incur a cost as well as some minor safety equipment such as mouth guards and shin pads.

Students who are not selected will have other options to choose from. More information about the sports available will be released later this term after PSSA selections have been finalised.

PSSA sport will run on Fridays commencing in Term 2 Week 2 until Term 3 Week 6 (9 May- 29 August) excluding school holidays.

    Choir 2025

BBPS Choir 2025 resumes on Tuesday 18 February. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 8.05am, singers are to meet Cassy at the back playground gate at 8am sharp. Please send your child to rehearsal with an A4 display book for scales and lyric sheets.

All keen singers in years 3 to 6 are most welcome to join the BBPS Choir. We look forward to another great year for BBPS choir!

    Band 2025

Students from Years 3-6 are invited to join the school band each year. Rehearsals are on Thursday mornings at 8.00am. For younger students there are a number of music groups on offer.

This is an amazing opportunity for students to  build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and foster a lifelong love of music.  Instruments offered include drum and percussion, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet and trombone.

Program runs for 18 weeks (Terms 1 and 2) with a cost of $700 + GST and one-time enrolment fee of $55.  There  are weekly group lessons for band instruments and weekly 1 hour band rehearsals with performance opportunities and excursions. Instrument hire fees are charged per term.

Secure your place today as spots are limited. For students doing external lessons but wanting to join the band, please contact us. Follow this link or the QR code to find out more. Don't miss out on this enriching musical experience!

    P&C

So good to see you all after the long summer holidays and have all the children back at school and excited for the new school year!

As you might have seen we are circulating the sign up form for you to join your class parent group. Even if you have already joined an informal whatsapp group for your class, could I please encourage you to complete the signup form as it makes things infinitely easier for your class parents and teachers - and it limits the confusion of having multiple groups and scattered school information.

LINK TO 2025 Class Parent WhatsApp Groups Form

Thanks to all those who have already completed the quick form.  On the form you will see you have the opportunity to self nominate to be the Class Parent Representative for your child's class. This is a great way to get to know other parents and your child’s teacher, and be involved in the school community. You are supported by the Class Parent Coordinator, which is actually me, your Pres :-)

If you think you might be interested in this role for 2025 please do put your hand up (via the form) and we will be in touch next week. If you would like to read more about the role look here Class Parents on P&C website

First P&C Meeting for 2025 will be Tuesday 25 February, 7pm, Week 5

    Have a great week.
